OUR HISTORY
Meyer Insurance Agency: A Legacy of Service Since 1919
The Meyer Insurance Agency was founded in 1919 when Rolf Meyer returned home to Sauk City from serving in World War I. In June 1955, Paul Meyer joined the agency after returning from military service. Sadly, later that year, Rolf passed away unexpectedly. Paul and his wife, Barbara, joined the agency, and they relocated it to their home two blocks away on Phillips Blvd.
As the business grew, the agency moved to its current location in 1980. In 1994, after traveling the world, Paul and Barbara’s daughter, Lise Meyer Kobussen, joined the agency. By 1999, Lise was managing the business when her parents retired, and in 2004, Lise and her husband, Dan, purchased the agency, proudly continuing the tradition into its third generation.
For over one hundred years, our family has been honored to serve you and your family—protecting what
matters most and investing in the community we love.
Our Commitment to Community
For three generations, Meyer Insurance has been more than a family-owned business—it’s been a cornerstone of community service. Rolf Meyer served as Sauk City’s Village President. Paul Meyer continued that tradition as a Sauk City Village Trustee and a Sauk County Supervisor, contributing to projects like the Highway 12 expansion, Sauk County parks development, and serving as president of both the Chamber of Commerce and the Historical Society.
Lise has proudly followed in those footsteps, currently serving as a Village of Sauk City Trustee, a member of the Chamber of Commerce Economic & Development Committee, a member of the Sauk Prairie Area Historical Society board, and an active volunteer at her church. She served on the Chamber of Commerce board and the Independent Insurance Association of Wisconsin board, was president for a term, and helped found the Riverway Business Connections networking group.
Meyer Insurance remains an active sponsor of local events and organizations.
